Dear FGSD Families,
With parent conferences underway, my hope is that you found the time meeting with your student’s teacher helpful. Working with your student’s teacher can make a difference in your student’s experience and academic progress. And once your meeting is done, I hope that you will enjoy a wonderful spring break. This school year has been tough and several days away from school will hopefully be beneficial for students, parents and teachers. Enjoy some time with your students and recharge.
That’s it. We’ll keep this message short and sweet. However, there are several important dates and events detailed below. Please take a few minutes to review those and add them to your calendars.

Important Information
CREATE Alternative Learning Program
CREATE is a non-profit organization that contracts with the district to deliver academic interventions for students who are referred to the program from the district. This organization is closing their doors. As a result, the students attending this program will return to the district beginning on March 28th, where the district will assume intervention responsibilities.
Kindergarten Registration
Kinder Roundup will begin in April at all six elementary schools. The dates are as follows:
- Dilleya: April 20
- Joseph Gale: April 21
- Fern Hill: April 25
- Echo Shaw April: 26
- Cornelius: April 27
- Harvey Clarke: April 28

Forest Grove “If I Were Mayor…” Contest
Share your creative ideas about what you would do as mayor. Local winners are entered into the state contest for a chance to win a prize worth $500! Deadline is March 25. For full details visit the City of Forest Grove’s website.
Forest Grove High School Performing Arts Department To Present “Mamma Mia!”
The Forest Grove High School Performing Arts Department proudly announces a return to live theater with their spring musical production of “Mamma Mia!.” Performances are set for April 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th at 7:00 pm and April 3rd and 9th at 2:00 pm.Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for seniors and students and can be purchase online at https://fghstheatre.booktix.com/
Performances take place in the Ellen Stevens Auditorium located at 1401 Nichols Lane in Forest Grove.
8th Grade Family Night
Current 8th grade students and families are invited to join us on April 6 (5:30pm - 8:00pm) at Forest Grove High School. You will have the opportunity to meet teachers,attend a few short presentations, get info on courses and clubs and there will be treats.
6th Grade Family Night
On March 31 (6:00pm - 7:00pm) join us to learn about what to expect at Neil Armstrong Middle School. Discover the programs offered, understand the forecasting process and discuss the developmental tasks of middle school aged students.

COVID-19 Vaccination Opportunities
In cooperation with Washington County Health, the district will be hosting two COVID-19 vaccine opportunities in April. One at Tom McCall on April 2nd from 12-7 the other at the FGHS on April 15th from 3-7.
CHILD-RELATED 2021 TAX CREDITS
You might receive a tax refund even if you’re not required to file. For more information on tax credits please visit www.irs.gov to check out the interactive Advance Child Tax Credit Eligibility Assistant and learn more about the Earned Income Tax. Second Home
Second Home connects volunteer host homes with unaccompanied high school students experiencing homelessness. By ensuring that the students have stable housing and ongoing support, they can focus on completing their secondary education and realize their full potential. Through recruiting volunteer home providers Second Home matches students on track to graduate high school with housing and support to meet their goals. Second Home is also available to provide support to people who are already housing unaccompanied homeless youth.
At any given moment there are at least 10 students in FGHS identified as unaccompanied, the reported numbers ranging from 5-13 depending on the month. We have one host home in Forest Grove that already has a young person successfully living there. To learn more about or participate in the program please visit the Second Home website.
